President William Ruto has commended his Deputy, Kithure Kindiki, for his dedication and commitment to national development, stating that his leadership has been instrumental in implementing the government's agenda.

Speaking in Gatunga, Tharaka Nithi County, on Friday, April 4, 2025, Ruto described Kindiki as a diligent and respectful leader who has played a crucial role in advancing the government's priorities.

He assured the residents that Kindiki was not just a regional leader but a national figure serving all Kenyans.

"I'm grateful you allowed Prof. Kindiki to come work with me in serving the nation. He is respectful, hardworking, and orderly," Ruto said.

Ruto emphasized that the position of Deputy President requires a leader who fosters unity rather than engaging in divisive politics.

He credited Kindiki with making governance more effective and enabling smooth service delivery.

"The Deputy President is not a DP of Tharaka Nithi nor Mt Kenya nor some section of this country. He is a Deputy of the whole country, assisting me to serve all Kenyans," he stated.

The President further noted that his administration is committed to eliminating ethnic divisions and uniting all communities for the progress of the nation.

"Our mission is to serve all Kenyans and unite all communities. We are getting rid of tribal animosity and hatred for the good of the nation. With a DP like Prof. Kindiki, my work as President has been made easier, and delivery of our agenda will be faster," he added.

In response, Kindiki expressed gratitude for being entrusted with the role of Deputy President and pledged to work tirelessly to implement the government's development initiatives.

"I have been honoured by the President's decision to pick me as his Deputy. I will make sure the work he has assigned me is delivered and the nation’s development agenda is achieved as scheduled," Kindiki stated.

He reaffirmed his commitment to overseeing government projects across the country while also ensuring the progress of initiatives in his home region of Tharaka Nithi and Mt Kenya.

"I'll be keenly following up on presidential directives across the country and ensuring all development projects are being implemented as planned," he remarked.

"As I do that, I'll keep a close eye on all the development projects here at home in Tharaka and Mt Kenya region."

Kindiki also acknowledged Ruto’s longstanding relationship with the people of Tharaka Nithi and Mt Kenya, emphasizing that their friendship was built over many years.

"The friendship between the President and the people of Tharaka Nithi, Meru, and Mt Kenya dates many years back. It didn’t start yesterday. It started when the President was Minister, then Deputy President, and now President. It will exist for a long time," he said.

During his visit to Tharaka Nithi, Ruto inspected the nearly completed Gatunga Modern Market, a government-funded project aimed at providing a conducive business environment for small-scale traders.

He also officially opened the Tharaka Nithi University Tuition Complex, a key infrastructure project in the region.
